Hole 17 - Newport
 Description:

This reachable par-five runs beside Newport Avenue to the west and is often played into a deceptively strong SW wind. As you approach the green, spare a thought for the work horse employed to pull the club's first mechanical mower in the early 1900s. The club was so grateful for his efforts that when he died, his remains were buried beneath the stately trees that separate the 17th and adjacent 1st fairways.

 Pro Tips:

This short par 5 can offer your best chance for a birdie. Trees down the left and out-of-bounds right help narrow the fairway as you approach another slick green which slopes from the back to a substantial false front. Take an extra club if there’s any sign of the prevailing wind in your face.
